Blow by Blow

My eyes are bulging, my jaw has dropped.

officialbeastieboys:

as you can imagine, shit is just fkd up right now. but i wanna say thank you to all our
friends and family (which are kinda one in the same) for all the love and support.
i’m glad to know that all the love that Yauch has put out into the world is coming right back at him.
thank you.

Writers and video producers live in dread of the wandering eye. Audio producers live for it. That’s what makes us, in our secret hearts, troublemakers. We want you to lose sight of everything in front of your face: to stare through that dish in your hand, ignore your children, drop into a glazed-over trance of our making. Maybe don’t drive off the road, but please do miss a few exits or get stuck in your car. Good audio should be dangerous that way.

Wreckmeister Harmonies

Saw my first Bela Tarr film today. It was like watching paint dry on the roof of the Sistine Chapel. Quite frankly I’m not sure if I loved it because of the filmmaker’s (in)famous pacing, or in spite of it; there was plenty else to admire. Either way I’ll be back for more.

Recently I recorded an interview with Dick Gordon of The Story (thestory.org) about a summer I spent in San Francisco interning for McSweeney’s. It airs today on NPR but is already available online- I made a shortened file so you don’t have to browse through the whole show. Enjoy!

A short film I recently finished making.

Keeping stories in my brain is important to me. I can get a story at the grocery store. If I’m paying attention, I can get it on the subway. I can get it in a book … Just catching a glimpse of how somebody is interacting with their child, or how they shape their nails or bop their head to the beat, and storing these little moments.

This movie was big at Sundance- looks like it might live up to the hype.

No one is prouder to put this birth certificate matter to rest than the Donald. And that’s because he can finally get back to focusing on the issues that matter — like, did we fake the moon landing? What really happened in Roswell? And where are Biggie and Tupac?

This is a great picture.
